MMC’s Approach

Montessori Math Club brings together Montessori lessons with materials, collaborative games and activities, and creative projects to make for a fun and enriching math experience.

Montessori Principles & Materials

The Montessori educational philosophy is built on the fundamental belief that children have a natural desire for knowledge, understanding and respect. The right physical environment, educational materials and lessons, and developmental understandings are the keys to unlock students’ potential. Some of the tenets of a Montessori setting include a beautifully prepared environment, a mixed age setting, the freedom of choice, and meaningful work. Montessori Math Club is led by an experienced Montessori teacher in a warm and inviting Montessori classroom where students joyfully engage in math work. Students work at their own individual pace and get new lessons when they are ready. We guide students towards independence and autonomy in the classroom.

Collaborative Games and Activities

Elementary-aged children are very socially-focused and appreciate opportunities to work collaboratively through math games and other group activities. Children make new friends at MMC and strengthen existing friendships.

Creative Projects

We embrace creativity at MMC. Whether it’s creating a wooden multiplication math fact tool with hammer, nails, and embroidery thread or building representations of numbers up through 1 million with blocks, cardboard, and other materials, MMC reinforces math concepts with creative projects.
